Local currency: The Thai currency is called Baht. The Thai Baht comes in 1000, 500, 100, 50 and 20 notes and 10, 5, 2, 1 Baht, 50 and 25 Satang coins. 100 Satang make 1 Baht.

First salary payment: Your first salary will be paid at the end of August.

First Months Rent & Salary Advance: We understand that moving to a new country or city entails a few costs. Therefore we have tried to make the transition as easy as possible for you – housing allowances and other benefits related to settling in are outlined in your contract.

Refund for Air fare and visa fees: Please submit your documents and receipts to the HR department by scanning them before you come or as soon as you arrive to Bangkok so that they can process your expenses and refund the money to you as quickly as possible. This money will be refunded as soon as your documents have been processed, so you can have that money back as quickly as possible on your arrival.

Rent and deposit: As we provide a furnished apartment for your first month in Bangkok there is no need to worry about finding a place to live before you arrive. Location, transportation and style of housing varies widely from neighborhood to neighborhood. It is best to see for yourself and do a couple of dummy journeys before signing contracts. You will be housed locally on your arrival, for some this is perfect and they stay, for others they want to move closer to town. Seeing for yourself and talking to the staff already at school is the best way to find just what you are looking for. Please check with HR staff about how much you will need to pay for your rent and the security deposit; you will have to pay when moving into your new apartment after your first month in the city if you wish to move (your lease can be extended so it is best to get some idea of costs prior to your move).

Opening your bank account in Thailand: School will arrange for you to open a bank account at Siam Commercial Bank during the orientation program. The closest branch is within walking distance from school and our bank also has an ATM at the school. Bank branches close at 3pm, but branches in malls can easily be found open until at least 7pm.

ATM machines: ATMs are widely available in Bangkok and we have one ATM machine at the main entrance to the school. Overseas bank cards with the usual Cirrus, Visa etc. signs do work in Thailand. You need to check with your own bank about the overseas transaction fees that would apply.

Transferring money home from Thailand: You can do this through the school’s finance office, by going to the bank by yourself or set up international transfers through online banking. The finance office staff are able to help with setting up the most convenient option for you. We get monthly email reminders from the finance office to submit our overseas money transfers from the finance office so we don’t miss any due date.
